Acquisition

In early 2008, faculty member Chris Nighman discovered that the manuscript, previously held in a private collection, was available through a rare book dealer in France. The Laurier Library quickly negotiated the purchase, making the Noted Hymnal the first manuscript in its Rare Book Collection. The acquisition was celebrated in April 2008 when the Laurier Library hosted an event featuring Laurier’s Chapel Choir performing music from the manuscript. For the past 15 years, the manuscript has been a valuable resource for students, instructors, and researchers.
