This small collection includes documents from survivor case files. Names have been anonymized for the protection of survivors. The documents relate to intelligence testing, schooling and education and contain Intelligence tests, student educational progress reports, and letters regarding the assignment of students to classes based on their test results. The collection, especially if more documents can be added to it as more records are contributed, is evidence of the theoretical dual-purpose of the Huronia Regional Centre: education and control (keeping in mind that only a very small percentage of children attended school classes and schooling for those who did attend classes was problematic). The collection also highlights the complex relationship between ideas about intelligence, “educability” and psychiatric diagnosis.
